Another American trip for Lennon?

Lennon: Should he even bother buying a ticket?

The founder and former leader of the English Defence League (EDL) Stephen Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson) has been invited to the United States to speak.

Now, that’ll make you draw in breath, I’m sure.

Lennon was jailed in January 2013 after pleading guilty to possession of a false identity document with improper intention, contrary to the Identity Documents Act 2010, at Southwark Crown Court.

Lennon used a passport in the name of Andrew McMaster to board a Virgin Atlantic Flight from Heathrow to New York, but was caught out after his fingerprints were taken by customs officials.

He left the airport and entered the US illegally but left the country the following day, using his own passport to return to the UK.

This time Lennon has been invited to Columbia University to address students who support the Republican Party.

Nailed it

It is unlikely that somebody who has already entered the US illegally once and has a string of convictions for violence and fraud will be allowed into the US.

Lennon’s current political venture, Pegida UK, is in the doldrums at the moment. We cover its decline in the latest issue of our magazine.

Lennon is also due to visit Germany soon, where no doubt he’ll be asked to explain how the British arm of that venture has ground to a halt.
